Calendar of Yehovah

The calendar most believers follow was not handed down from Scripture. It was handed down from Rome.

The months we call January and March are named after Roman gods. The holidays the Church celebrates - Christmas, Easter, Halloween - have no foundation in the Word of Yehovah. They were absorbed from pagan culture and rebranded with Christian names. That is not an accusation - it is documented history.

Yehovah has His own calendar. He established it at creation, confirmed it through Moses, and embedded it into the very fabric of the covenant. It is not the Jewish calendar. It is not the Hebrew calendar. It is the Calendar of Yehovah - given to His people as a roadmap of redemption, a prophetic timeline of His plan for humanity, and a rhythm of life that connects believers to the heartbeat of Scripture.

The Appointed Times

Scripture calls these appointments the "Moedim" - the set apart times of Yehovah. They are listed in Leviticus 23 and include:

Passover - Pesach Unleavened Bread - Chag HaMatzot Firstfruits - Yom HaBikkurim Feast of Weeks - Shavuot Feast of Trumpets - Yom Teruah Day of Atonement - Yom Kippur Feast of Tabernacles - Sukkot

These are not Jewish holidays. Yehovah calls them "My appointed times." Every one of them points to Yeshua - His first coming is written in the spring feasts, His return is written in the fall feasts. To ignore them is to tear pages out of the prophetic story.

The New Moon

Yehovah's calendar runs on the cycles of the moon. Each new month begins with the sighting of the first visible crescent moon from the land of Israel. This is how the first century believers reckoned time. This is how the appointed times are properly placed on the calendar each year.

Vigilant Faith follows the visible crescent new moon reckoning, using reports from the land of Israel to establish the beginning of each month.
